Default Fast Advice please!!!

I was told that my rear spring on my 79 Vette should probably be replaced. I don't know much about the composite springs but have heard they are the way to go. Does anybody know where I can get one quick and of high quality? My car is in the shop as we speak so time is of the essence. Thanks

I think these guys have what you're looking for under rear suspension.

I don't know about you but when someone says "you need a new...(fill in the blank) I investigate. Is your riding normal. What is it that made the mech tell you that..etc. I also understand the while I'm at it I might as well fix it stuff, but be certain you need it before shelling out the bucks...my .02

Well, according to my mechanic, the bolts holding in the spring were just about to fall out. I have replaced all the suspension bushings in the front, tie rod ends, etc, and they are going to have to pull the rear spring to fix the broken bolts anyway. Plus I am replacing all the bushings in the rear as well. I just thought that while they had it out, I would replace it with a composite spring. No sense in having to go back later to replace a part that is almost 30 years old.

I just had the shop owner look at the spring and he says it's fine, so thanks to all that responded. All is well, and I saved some money..

The two most popular brands of composite springs are VBP and TRW. VBP makes their own spring and the TRW is made by Muskegan Brake.

The VBP is a popular brand on this site. Some say the TRW sits too high. Many forum members also recommend replacing the shocks as well to match the composite spring.
