Default suspension package

I've been thinking of using that VBP "grand touring plus package" on my 79. with the 330# fiberglass rear spring and the 460# coils in front and Bilstien shocks , Has anyone used this? Any feedback on likes or dislikes ?

It's great, just have a buddy help you, this is a do it yourselves kit, not a do it yourself one.

In my opinion.

Unless, of course, your a pretty good mechanic.

Which, I'm not.

If you are looking for a comfortable, touring ride, the Grand Touring Plus is the package to go with. I recommend adding the Smart Strut Bracket to the package. You get the adjustable strut rods in the kit, but adding their re-designed bracket allows you to get the rods parallel to your half shafts which will give you the best geometry for better handling as well as even tire and bearing wear.

They also have the Street and Slalom kit which has the 550# coils in the front and 360# rear spring and this kit includes their redesigned bracket. This package will give you a little more of a performance feel and is suitable for some light racing and fun track days.

If you need to do a total suspension upgrade, the Performance Plus Kit is the way to go because it includes all new control arm bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, offset upper cross shafts for the control arms and new lowers, front and rear shim kits, a crossmember reinforcing kit to help from frame damage with the upgraded suspension, diff. bushing, trailing arm bushings, etc. You get their redesigned control arms with the uppers having the ball joint relocated for added camber/castor and the offset cross shafts. They all come preassembled so you can just bolt the arms right in. You will receive their poly that is still hand poured to their specs with graphite impregnated to give you better, quicker reaction at the pivot points. For the price, you can upgrade your complete suspension and receive all the parts you need except the shock mounts which can be re-used or purchased separately.

Both the front and rear spring systems in the performance plus package allow you to adjust the spring rate as well as the ride height. This gives you the most versatility as you can set it up for a cross country touring ride or jack her up, make some adjustments and have a fun day at the track. It gives you the best of the best they have to offer and the opportunity to have different ride qualities to get the most out of driving your Corvette on the street or some fun track days.

If you have any questions and would like to discuss their packages further, please do not hesitate to private message me, email me directly at pattiesattic@tampabay.rr.com or call Steve and Gary in the tech dept. at 1-800-237-9991.

Best Regards,
Pattie

Where did you guys find the listing for this package? Where is the website please. I would like to go through my 1980 this winter and was thinking about some suspension rebuild upgrades. My car will be a driver only, so a good ride would be appreciated.

In reguards to the VBP suspension package ,I went ahead and bought it. I'm in the process of disasembling the rear suspension.Three cans of PB blaster and several saw zaw blades later everything is off except the rear crossmember that the diff is attached to .I remember on my 77 that was a real thrill !!! Then it's scrape and sand to get the frame & floor clean for paint

I bought this one:
ID: 42001M
Name: Grand Touring Plus System 1963-77
But I'm having them send it with HD shocks instead of the Sports.
Plus it's on SALE!!!!!

Thats it; I like what comes in that kit. my Vette only has 35K on it so to be honest everything is in good shape. Just looking to "wake up" the performance" without going all extreme with it!

Let me know how you like it after the install.
