Egr valve
I've been working on my "73" and the owner before me put a cover over the spot for the valve, and then drilled a bunch of holes in it. Should i block these holes up? I have been having a problem with a bit of a miss at a even speed (not under load) Ya nail it and she really take's off "4:11:'s I also get some smoke when i back off.The head's were just done by the guy i got it from,i hope i don't have a intake leak. THANK'S this forum is the BEST I'VE EVER READ!!!!!!

The EGR valve recirculates exhaust gas into the intake at higher speeds. Not at idle. If there are holes in the cover plate you are sucking air into the intake screwing up the idle and low rpm mixture. It's not noticble at WOT.
