Battery Wiring Question....Please Help
I have an 81 vette and just the other day, i took the battery off to use it on my boat. I noticed that on the positive cable, there is a red wire that comes out and from under the car and it was not bolted on, but was on the positive terminal without a bolt. When i put the battery back on the vette, i noticed that the red wire that comes from under the car, was causing sparks on the positive terminal. I bolted it on the positive terminal and onto the battery. Now it seems that the battery is at a low charge at all times and i've had to charge it twice. I take the battery to the local parts store and then tell me that the battery is good, but low in charge. Do you think the alternator is bad? Or is that red wire supposed to be off? What is that red wire for? Could I have burned a fuse? Please Help, Thanks
