Default 255/70 On The Front???

I bought 2 new tires yesterday from Firestone, (for my 1982) Indy 500 255/70's; I have always ran Eagle GT II 255/60's and still have them in the front. The 255/70's are bigger tires (taller) and they do fit perfect in the back, but don't know how they will do in the front with clearance.
I had thought the 255/70 was an option my 82 and other C3's as stock is 255/60. I will be doing a complete rebuild of the front suspension in two weeks including VBP's GT 460lb coils.
Does anyone else run these bigger tires on the front and back with no problems??
I loved the stock look of the Eagles, but the damm things didn't last and they are outright dangerous when the road is wet - NO grip at all!! I read/heard a lot of good about the Firehawk Indy 500's from fellow C3 guy's and decided to go with them.

Anyway, let me know what you think.
Thanks!

Stock was 225/70-15, optional was 255/60-15.
No factory 255/70-15 installed on Corvette.
225/70 - 27.4 inch
255/60 - 27.0 inch
255/70 - 29.1 inch
So it's gonna be much taller. What's wrong with 255/60's?

With the height dimension that wfo76 posted I'd think you'll beat up the wheel opening lip on the fender real easily. Too tall a tire for comfort, I think.

Yeah, you are very right! I got the wrong tires!
Went back to Firestone today and they are going to switch them for the correct optional 255/60's which are $20 more per tire and I will pay for the install, shop fee's etc. This mistake on my part cost me $80 more! I was thinking stock tires were 255/60's, So... I would get the optional 255/70's.... I was tired that day.... blab blab blab - Oh well, lesson learned!

It should be noted that Firestone has a hidden (Secret) 30 day return policy.... if for any reason you don't like the tires, fell free to bring them back....... I guess they don't want people to know this - people like me

Thank you for the correct info wfo76!

Now hold on!
Before you take 'em back I got a field I need plowed and you're just the feller to do it with them there big 'ol mounted tractor tires!

Just kidding....we ALL make mistakes and thats what makes this forum so good. We all kid each other and still understand that we've each done it before in one way or another. If that's the worst you've done then you're doin' OK!!!
