HOT 383 question.
And some one peice seal blocks will not accept the factory spider
If needed I have one that has been sonic tested cleaned and magged as it has Pro-Gram splayed center caps, stud kit, line bored and line honed, decked to 9.000, bored and plate honed to 4.0305
At those power levels I'd think twice (maybe only once) about moving to an electric pump...but that's an additional expense.
There is no means to VERIFY a roller-cam block; passenger blocks used the roller setup from '87 on but trucks had a mixture for a few more years. Casting numbers 14011148, 14088526, and 14093638 are reasonably safe bets - but be clear what you're looking for and pull the intake to be sure - it's coming apart anyway, right?
Sounds like a great block! One of the benefits of a used block is getting the spider and rollers for free as they're all commonly reusable. The factory spider, retainer and cam kit is available from GMPP under P/N 12371042 for around $240.
IMHO, I wouldn't buy ANYTHING until you have a complete design and parts list...
if not id be all over it..
anyone ever tried it? ive only heard good things from yearone's crate motors
I have/had one of the first ones produced. You WILL LOVE THIS ENGINE!!! It was a tire shreader
