Default C3 Rears + Drag Racing??

Im looking into getting a "69 Vette that has a LS1/T56 in it. I plan on doing a heads cam and intake swap if i get it. Should be between 460 rwhp to 480rwhp with torque be the same. Im going to daily drive the the car and probley take it to the track every few months. When at the track it will be on a Drag Radial.

My Questions are-
-How much can a stock rear hold?
-What/ Where to get the the parts that will hold my power?

That will be really on the edge if not over the edge. I run 400 RWHP and have been lucky so far and I have all HD stuff in the rear and rebuilt the diff to as strong as possible, Traction is your worst enemy as far as the rear goes. Slicks and you need a Toms 12 bolt setup. Drag radials and no 6000 rpm clutch dumps off the line and you should be Ok providing everything is in excellent shape and HD.

As Gordon said 450-500 is pushing a stock setup, add in sticky tires and you'll break something. You can look up my threads on building them stronger. I'll be building a 12 bolt in a couple of weeks myself, it's going into a 650 hp car.

Unfortunatly it does not matter if it is once or a hundred times. If it can't take it, 1 time is enough to lunch the rear. Contact GTR1999 for HD rear components. He can steer you in the proper direction.

I also am using 3 inch half shafts with solid ujoints. I feel this is a must upgrade.
