Default Hydroboost

Hey guys,
I'm looking to put Hydroboost on my 71 sb with power brakes. The master cylinder needs replacing along with the lines and calipers. Why not do it now right? I looked at the kits for C3s but they seem to be really expensive. I saw some hydroboost units from Astros on eBay. Do these work? What goes into putting one of these units on?

There is actually quite a bit of work going into testing and modifying a used Hydro to go into a C3. The high mileage units are just not worth the trouble and the low mileage units are hard to find and usually expensive.

All I need is an email and I can send you an information packet with pics and diagrams and explanations of what it takes.

I would also like to see some info on the hydroboost process. Send private message if you would.

Default One ton truck hydroboost units

Have an '83 and '85 K3500 GMC which I replaced both working hydroboost units on for preventative reasons. Any reason they wouldn't work on a C3? Presume the special ps pumps have to be used as well. Thanks.

The stock Vette power steering pump will work, and you'll need a '77 or later master.

The truck Hydros are a lot harder to use. Most don't have the same bolt pattern, and they usually have a skinny pedal rod with a size change right where the shaft needs to be threaded for the clevis. Because of the size change, the clevis won't fit, and a new longer one with a smaller bore needs to be used.

The truck Hydros can be used...it's just a lot harder.

Its not that bad, im in the middle of it right now with one off of a 94 GMC truck, you do have to cut into your firewall because the HB is off-set from the bolt pattern but besides that not that bad! Be prepared to remove your steering wheel, there is a write up on the forum on the whole hydroboost install with pictures, just search.

Would you be willing to do the same for me? I've been thinking about setting up Hydroboost for both my 69 Vette and my 70 Z28 but have seen others struggle to get it set up. I'll PM you my email and if you can get to it sometime I'd really appreciate it.

The only reason you have to cut the firewall is if you have manual brakes and are installing a Hydrobooster. Oh, and why did you have to remove the steering wheel?

In my packet is a template of the firewall and the location of the new hole...and special mounting brackets can be had to utilize the lower pedal assembly bolts as the lower mounting bolts of the Hydro...using the original booster studs as the upper mounting studs.

Manual brake cars do need a different brake light switch since you're using the lower pedal hole for the pedal rod, and you need to move the body hole of the Hydro down lower and use the special plate.

Other than that it's not much different. In some cases even the stock hard lines from the master to the dist. block will still work.
