79 revs fluctuate.

79 revs fluctuate.

Hi guys..

Got a strange problem with my brothers 79,

car starts and idles fine for about 30 seconds,revs then drop down to about 100rpm then pick up and runs normal for another 30 seconds or so,after which the revs drop again and the car stalls.When started again the same thing happens.

Any ideas what is causing this.

carb,distributor,coil,electrical?

An intermittent vacuum leak somehow? If that engine has all it's original equipment there is a vacuum switch at the front of the intake that could be cycling on & off with a cracked hose. Is the a/c cycling on and off? Just guessing, obviously.

Sounds to me like it could be the float level in the carb. I would look at the vacuum leak as suggested by SH-60B and then look closely at the carb............keep us posted

I really hope it's not the carb,i would rather stick pins in my eyes than go into that holley.
