Default Contrl Arm question

Looking for some advice.
I have the upper and lower control arms off the car and notice the bushings are shot, dried and cracking. In pricing the bushings, i am finding a huge swing in the cost of these bushings, anywhere from $30.00 for stock to $70.00 for poly just for bushings.
Is this normal?

Unless you need some extra rigidity for spirited track style driving I don't think you need anything more than stock rubber replacements. The poly are for performance applications.

Look at it this way, The rubber bushings lasted 20 plus years. What more do you want? Put in rubber and spend the money else where.

We always in stall the rubber bushings in our shop. They will more than likely be good for another 20 + years.

There are a few ways you can look at this and some will agree, and some will not.

The control arms were made to have give at this point, and thus rubber will give the poly will not.

We installed Poly in Norm’s car in our shop and they squeaked.

If you are going to race the car around pylons I would run poly for sure.

For me I figure the stock bushing will long outlast me.

Go with the rubber as stated by previous answers,my 79 had lasted 20+ but I used poly for replacements and I am happy with the "squeakers"for my application but they are not really needed for the street.

I replaced mine with stock bushings in 1990. With less than 100 miles on them I stored the car. A dozen countries, 3 kids and 16 years later I pulled the car back out. Bushings where not good. Not falling apart shot, but it was clear they needed R&R. Car was stored in Colorado first 3 years, then Texas.

I put poly ones in this time using the silicone lube that came with them. No squeaks. No idea how long the polys will last, Ask me in 2022. The polys DO ride stiffer.
