I'm getting ready to paint my car what I thought was the original color (927 blue) since I liked the color on the car. After checking a PPG color chart for 972, it appears much darker blue than what is on the car.
Is there a place I can verify what 927 should look like?
As I remember, code 927, "Corvette Dark Blue Metallic" is fairly dark. 73's were also available in medium blue (code 922), this was a lighter blue. I looked at a 73 Chevrolet color chip folder from my literature collection. Though it did list the Corvette colors, it only has actual color chips for the regular passenger car line. This was typical of these folders, usually the "exclusive" Corvette colors were omitted from these folders. I don't have a 73 dealer album, but they would have a color chip in them for the Vette.
If it helps, I've listed below the original lacquer paint codes from the Chevy parts book. Maybe you can compare samples from a couple sources to confirm you have the right paint mix.
