I attempted to "search" function but it was experiencing constipation.
So, is there a specification of ohm resistance that can be used to check these 30 year 8 mm plug wires? I'm not so interested in visual inspection as much as am in the continuity of the wires. thanks
Tom.... is there any particular reason you want to save 30 year old wires. Buy a good set of universal fit wires from a brand name company like Taylor. Easy to install under motor mounts and can be cut to lenght for a nice fit. Better spark, etc.
Yep,,,,you are correct! 3000 ohms /foot. If the jackets are in good shape. the boots are in good shape and the metal plug and coil terminals are clean and properly fit into the coil towers and plug terminals,,they should work fine! Remember,,,,,plug wires DO NOT increase HP! PERIOD! They just improve reliability and allow the coil to work to it full ability. If your old wires were crompromised, the new wires will bring the engine back to its full operating capacity but NOTHING more.
Use an OHM Meter and measure the wire from end to end with the meter leads on the metal terminals inside the boots. If the wire is 2 feet long, it should read 6000 ohms.
