I just don't get it. if I adjust the cable in the pinch nut where the throttle will return all the way closed then I lose about a 1\4" from wide open. If I adjust the pinch nut to allow full throttle then the linkage does not fully close. What am I doing wrong????
Remember you can trim back the housing to gain more cable length. Oh wait a minuet you may have the same problem I have and that is your pedal isn’t pulling the cable enough. Could that be a possibility???

At this point I think anything is possible. How did you fix yours?
Have you tried adjusting it with the sliding adjuster with the two lock nuts. Try adjusting the rear lock nut back to take the slack out of the cable and not the pinch nut.
I had a universal cable that was giving me problems like that too. I had to completely disassemble the cable, so I could cut the sheath down an inch or so like I was cutting S/S braided line. I wrapped tape around it, used a cable cutter, and then re-installed the cable and rebuilt it all back to the way it was. I ended up with two extra inches of cable travel.
What I found on my car was, the arm where the cable attaches to the pedal was bent. That caused me not to have full throw from the pedal arm. What DB was talking about is a better explanation of what I was saying about trimming the housing back. That would be the first place to check. Next if you don’t have enough “pull length” from the pedal you should look to see if it is bent. It doesn’t take much to cause the problem you are describing.
I had to do the same thing, I bought a generic Lokar cable and mounting bracket set up I also bought a lokar throttle pedal because my original was breaking at the arm. I fought with the exact same thing you are going through, I cut the sheathing back just like DB explaind but still was not getting WOT I finally shimmed out the throttle pedal about 1/2 inch and that fixed it. Full throttle all day long now
BlackRat...Here's a picture of my Lokar throttle cable. It was easy to adjust. You can shorten the cable by adjusting the rear sliding mechanism with the two lock nuts. Plus you can adjust the cable length with the mechanism that attaches to the carb accerlerator bracket.
