Default Engine bearings

In a hot street 355 motor. (7000rpm tops)

What is really necessary for bearings. Seems like there are lots of features:

Various metal compounds
1/2 groove
3/4 groove
no groove

Federal mogul has a no groove tri-metal no groove main bearing set for like $28 bucks. Seems the next step of a non-store brand bearing is speed pro in the 50s.

The "H" series Clevites are top of the line for high performance use.

I went with coated rod/main bearings, 3/4 groove mains. Reduces the clearance by about half of one thousandth of an inch.

Clevite Tri-Armor, good for startup when there's no oil pressure, pricey but worth it for the piece of mind IMO.

ARTICAL ABOUT THEM

We use the V-series bearings and have had great success with them we have a couple SBC blower engines 1500 plus on the HP and they look like new when we take them out. Plus we use them in our circle track and performance builds.

And on our engines with Honda journals and 283 mains we use the coated H series bearings.

The ACL bearings are machined bearings and are really nice as far as sizing.
