Default Shocks for my 82?

Hey guys! It's time to change the shocks and figure springs too. my question is with so many which one. the previous owner installed a composite mono spring so does that affect which shock i can use? the car is original and is used to cruising on nice days like today!!

so what do you guys reccomend?

thanks

Mike-- the front spring unless really badly compressed or broken should be fine. Unless you are looking for a certain drop or stiffness i would leave em.

as for shocks you will get a long list from everyone here. I have a composite spring too and am using the kyb g2 shocks. Ecklers states they have this shock for both the composite spring and for the steel but KYB claims And is looking into it.

what wil work is whats best for you and take the advice of the More experinced guys here.

there is a difference between composite springs. there are shocks out there that are super stiff and made for the certain composite springs, as well as metal original springs. it really is a crap shoot if you have never been through lots of shocks before or dont know anyone who has experienced different brands. doing a search for "best shocks" will yield results you need and then you can decide which is best for you.

I would also recommend this combo. The other thing that I would recommend is a four wheel alignment. C3's can be a pleasure to drive when the car is tracking properly. Talk to your local Corvette club as they should be able to tell you who to go to.
Good Luck

My '82 had a set of new KYB shocks installed on it when I bought it recently and has the original springs. I can say that I do love the way the car rides and aborbs the bumps. No complaints at all. This is in regards to daily drivign which is what I do vs. road racing.
I couldn't imagine it getting any better but I've also heard a lot of people prefer the Bilsteins on their C-3s. Maybe someone who has experienced both will sound off.

It's not BS. The shock is a proprietary shock made for VBP. The part number is a VBP218 vs the steel spring shocks which is a 343218. I'm not sure if VBP still has the rights to it or not. The shocks valving and noise pressure is different from the steel spring shock to the composite spring shock.

For the record, the previous owner of my '75 put in new KYB's on all four corners and it rides better than my wife's mini-van.
