I have a 68 that I have completed the engine and trans a few months ago. I am now working a few hours per week on the interior, dash, carpet, guages yadda yadda yadda. So last week I posted a thread asking if the car should start with the center instrument cluster removed. The answere was , Yes it should start without the console. Shoot! Dang thing wouldn't even click when I turned the key. So every day or two (this is only a part time hobby for me) I would go to the garage and look at the fuse panel, check my wiring I left dangling in the big hole in the center of the console, check the battery...
Today I was sitting there in the passenger seat with a meter in my hand wondering if anyone would buy the dang thing in its current state. Then it hit me. When I tore the console out I took the shifter out of park. Duh... Put it in park and I am back in business. Only good news is it's going to be a nice weekend in Chicago and I can drive the Vette a few more time before I put the toy away for the winter!
Hi George,
I've had the same type of thing happen to me. I was always glad I had just made a STUPID mistake rather than having to deal with a REAL problem.
Regards,
Alan
