I went to a home daycare class last night in Oklahoma City and someone took a key to the side of my minivan (1999) the entire passenger side door has a deep scratch. I am so pissed!!! I am so glad that I didn't drive the vette, I usually drive it to my classes. I bought the van new in 1999. It's the first car that we have ever bought brand new. damn I am so mad!!!

Charlene I know just how you feel, I came out one day to find that someone had keyed my drivers rear quarter. I'm used to finding new marks on my bumpers from Idiots who can't park but If I had found this person keying my car I would have happily done time for them.
Re: Why do people have to do these things??!! (ITZA79)
Charlene,
I do not have an answer to your question. But it is a shame to have a new car bespoiled like that. My personal opinion is that it is a lack of responsibility and accountability that is rampant in our society today. And perhaps a lack of vision and direction: what am I here for and where am I heading? Sometimes the answer is nowhere. And it is tempting to blame the young people but no....I have found the lack of societal motivation in persons of all ages. Nothing to do tonight; let's key a car!! Those type of attitudes. Hope the insurance people take care of the damage :).
Re: Why do people have to do these things??!! (paul79)
and people in the forum asked why I didn't want to keep the vette and drive it to school...
I hate that :mad if I cought someone keying my car, or even keying a car that wasn't mine, and I didn't even know the owner, I would literally beat them down, then call the cops for vandalism...poopie like that makes me scared to leave my house....people don't care about others property...

Charlene, I also experienced that horror. It was done to my Yukon. I baby all my vehicles and to see that happen to something that is a part of you really presses a nerve. The vandels started at the drivers front fender to the door and worked their way back to the quarter panel. Luckily for me the key only started to dig in about 4" long into the quarter. I compounded the rest out. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Thank goodness you didn't take your shark.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Sadly, this happens all the time in our society. Lack of respect, and consideration for each other runs rampant in our society and it's sad. I parked my 2002 Formula in the back of the lot, and sure enough someone scratched my door while I was working. My car was all alone with no one next to me all day.... WTF??? :cuss :cuss :cuss
Re: Why do people have to do these things??!! (ITZA79)
Some people have no respect for other people's property. I'm in a University enviroment, where people come and go all day long. You can't believe some of the horror stories I've seen and heard about cars in the parking lots. Once a couple of years ago, a girl was trying to back out of her parking stall,( she was parked at a slight angle, a van was next to her) as she was backink, the fender well of the little truck she was driving cought the bumper of the van.
She kept backing and ripped open the side of the pickup bed. She pulled forward and tried again, doing the same thing. My friend and I went over to see if we could help, Got a floor jack out of his truck, jacked the little pickup up, moved it over so it would be straight in the stall, let the truck off the jack and went to put the jack back into the truck. The girl smiled and said thanks, backed out and drove off. We got her tag # and reported it to the campus police. Don't know if they ever did anything about it, but the point about this, that girl had no reguard for someone elses property, If she could have gotten out of the parking spot with out help, the person in the van would have never known what had happened to their van. Some people just don't care.
Re: Why do people have to do these things??!! (ITZA79)
People can be such "A"holes. In the Fall of '85, I bought a brand new Black 1986 Ford Ranger and I parked it on a street where there was like 20 other vehicles parked along this street. Some "A"hole took a switchblade or screwdriver and just walked the entire block getting every car parked at the curb. Mine just happened to be one of them. My truck did'nt even have 1,200mi on it yet!!! :cuss
Re: Why do people have to do these things??!! (ITZA79)
Humm... The only good reason I would see someone do that is if you parked so close to the other car as to make it impossible for him to get in...especially since it was an SUV. I just hate is when ppl park their big friggin trucks (who needs such a monster in TOWN!?) to close to my car and I have to squeeze myself into my car. I don't do anything about it but I know lots of ppl that bang their door on the other guy's car (but thats even more stupid if you ask me) or use they key...which is a good way to pay back the respect. Its easy, LEAVE ENOUGH SPACE and it shouldn't happen. Never happened to me!
Re: Why do people have to do these things??!! (ITZA79)
:mad This seems to be a growing trend! People these days just don't seem to have ANY respect for another person's belongings. It would almost be worth it for someone to key my car, just so I could catch them keying it :smash:. I get really mad when I hear about these type of things! :mad :mad
Re: Why do people have to do these things??!! (daniel77350)
Daniel,
What if: you saw someone kicking in the door of a beat up old red pickup truck because when I came out of Best Buy the freakin' moron was so close to my van I could barely even get in the thing, and YES, the truck was parked on my side of the line, and YES, there were a dozen empty spaces on the other side of my van, and YES, THERE WAS A DENT WITH RED PAINT IN THE SIDE OF MY VAN THAT MATCHED WHERE THE TRUCK'S DOOR WOULD HIT :mad
But no, you wouldn't have to worry about that, because the idiot that I am, I didn't see the person do it, so I did NOT retalliate. I wanted to wait for the moron to come out and show him the dent in my van, but the spouse dragged me away. It wouldn't have done any good anyway, because I'm sure that the fool would not have given it a single thought.
There are inconsiderate, destructive, and stupid people out there. But there are vengeful people out there too. I know many people who have been in the same situation as me and they either keyed or dented what they believed to be the offending vehicle. Given that there's probably nothing they can do within the law I personally can't fault them for their vengeance.
