Default New manifold ?

Hi - I have a 1971 coupe , L48 with headers , torquer ll manifold , edelbrock 600 cfm carb , and Comp Cam rockers . I don't know the cam specs , but I was thinking of changing the manifold to the low rise Performer . My car needs to really rev to make power . Do you think I would notice any change ? And would I still be able to use my stock hood .
Thanks . And especially thanks to all the people who post on this site . It seems whenever I have a problem , someone else asks a relevent question .

IMHO, you would be much better off with the dual plane Performer intake as opposed to the single plane Torker II which is designed for higher RPM operation. The dual plane intake will provide much better throttle response from off idle and help you with more bottom end torque. Your unknown cam could be part of the problem as well, how well does it idle?

No problem with the stock hood and a Performer.

Look at the Performer and the new Weiand Warrior series. Both will do a LOT better on your car.

Idles great , 650 - 700 at idle , runs real well , but I thought the power band with the performer would be better . Thanks Scott

Here is an interesting article. Particularly on how the factory q-jet intake performs vs a weiand manifold on a nearly stock motor. You can get a pretty good idea of your cam size with a vacuum gauge. If you have 18" to 22" manifold vacuum your cam is stock or darn close to it. 14" to 16" is probably in the 214 to 220 degree range. If you do have a cam closer to stock you're better off with a manifold closer to stock.
