I just started to get a thumping sound in the right rear wheel. When I apply the brakes, it goes away. My first assumptions is that one of they caliper pistons is not returning far enough into the caliper. I had replaced all 4 calipers two years ago and had the rear end done last year.
Does this sound legit? I have searched it out, but no one has said the sound goes away when braking. Even if I apply light braking, the sound goes away and it is only on the drivers right rear side.
I haven't had a chance to check the lug nuts yet, but unless they have loosened unexpectedly, I don't think this is the problem. I really torque them down when plutting my tires back on.
The u-joints are spicers and they are only about a year old. I will check them out this weekend.
The fact that it stops when I apply brake pressure is where I get stumped.
