Fuel pressure on my wifes 69 SBC (L46) is 5.5 to 6# at idle or just off idle, measured between the (new) filter and the carb. However, at 1/2 or WOT, it drops to 2#...and then it bogs big time, coughs and spits...That's not good, methinks...right??
For starters, is there a "sock" in the fuel tank, and if so what is the best way to access it? I have no way of testing it, so replacing it may be my only option, in this case (Just hate shotgunning - i.e. changing parts till the problem goes away)
Any tips for troubleshooting/fixing fuel delivery appreciated.
TIA,
P.

Hello, I was having some problems with a minor bog, hesitation at wot. I thought it was my carb, I reajusted and checked it over everything looked okay. I called Cliff, and he said it was a fuel delivery problem such as clogged fuel sock, lines or pump ect. My pump pressure was okay. The problem was an old, badly cracked S fuel line that runs from the frame to the fuel pump. It was getting sucked closed by the pump at high rpms and causing the wot problem. I bought the new S line from Ecklers, no more problems. See ya, Al
