i think i found my exhaust tick.
the back right manifold bolt on my 72 BB looks like it has backed out a thread or two.
how in the heck to you get a wrench on that thing.
it looks like you have to come up through the bottom but i dont want to go to a lift if i can help it
Jack the car up, get it on jack stands, and you'll be able to get up to that bolt.
Now, being that it's so close to the firewall, you'll have almost no articulation. I use a stubby wrench with the closed end cut off and smoothed. Essentially it's 'very' short. From under, this allows me to get the wrench on the bolt and make 1/6th turns to tighten or loosen that bolt.
Mine is a small block application, but the theory is the same.
Take it to an auto repair shop. It'll cost you $50, but you won't have to get under it. [Of course, some of us search for something loose, just so we can dig in....]
I know how you feel. I had the same fear when I started pulling my engine few weeks ago. well, I found out its much easier than I thought. As DB said, you have to creep under the car to unbolt that on, but it was so easy for me, actually it was the easiest one to undo. Mine is a BB, too.
