removing the oil pan
I am removing the oil pan on my 75 and in earlier posts it was suggested that you need to cut the stock exhaust to make enough room to lower the pan. Has anyone removed the oil pan with the stock 2 to 1 exhaust still in one piece? I thought that I might get enough room by disconnecting the exhaust at the converter?
You might want to search for Oil Pan on the forum, I found one by Durango and this one that spells out somethings you should consider.

Disconnect the Battery, remove the starter, cluch inspection plate, drop the two bolts on the ider arm to frame and maybe the PS cylinder end nut so you can get space to drop the pan, drop the pan and start cleaning the old gaskest off.
Use one of the new one piece gaskets and get some extra hands and beer for de-greasing. You will have a good laugh when there are not leaks after a long Saturday/\
i removed the exhaust from the headers i then removed it from the straight pipe it attaches to that goes to the cat convertor DONE!!!!???? NOPE--- that sucker will leave you with 1/8th of clearance to go!! meaning drop the steering linkage. it then slips right out without problems. Make sure you have it sealed correctly as you DONT want to do this all over again!!

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I think someone welded the joint between the y-pipe and the straight piece that goes back to the converter. I guess I'll see what happens when I get serious on the weekend.
Thanks heaps.
I tackled this on the weekend. If you want to save yourself from cutting your exhaust, just disconnect the exhasut at the manifold, loosen the bolts on the two hanging points and remove the bolts at the cat converter. This will lower your exhaust just enough to pass the oil pan under. Mine came out without too much colorful language.
thanks again for the help.
