Default Winter project- hood spring

as some of you know. even if you change and lube all the cables on the hood pull mech. it still does not return back to its original state. you have to move it by hand BEFORE closing the hood.

i know some of you engineers have come up with a solution to this (besides removing it altogether) such as a bigger return spring, or some other crazy modification so making it return correctly? Im currently working on find ways to make it function correctly and your ideas or solutions would be helpful to me and others.

I am going to remove the bracket and have tabs welded to the linkages spreading the point to point distance that the spring attaches to. As it is the distance is very short and that spring just doesn't have enough room to go from full retract to extension.

I want a longer spring, and I'm going to weld on extension tabs that allow that.

do you have the same problem too?

i was thinking of something similar also. it appears that the spring that is circular just doesnt have enough space to absorb energy enough to "spring back" Some way to make the spring set back more to get it some velocity to push back.

only other idea would be a heavier duty spring as replacement yet i hav'nt been able to find anything to replace that one with.
