well i was looking at my trim tag on my 72 coupe and got some weird numbers it reads like this..
k09
trim 421 spec paint
ive read that the spec paint means that it was ordered in primer?
if thats the case then what is the k09?
and also my center console says my car has a 350 with 8.5.1 and 360ftlbs... i thought it was 300 for 72?
any help is greatly appreciated thanks, kyle

SPEC could be either grey primer delivered car or a special order non production color. Would need orig dealer order or the tank sticker to verify which it was.
NCRS Board indicates trim plates with PRIME or two dashes (- -) were also used on cars delivered in primer to the dealer.

Hello Kyle,
Your 1972 Corvette coupe has the option code ZP3. This special paint.
The car was sent in red oxide primer to the dealer. IF the car was painted a non 1972 Corvette paint color you would have to provide documentation of the paint color painted from ST. Louis. They had made (1) black car that is documented with paperwork. The trim tag is SPEC. Chevrolet built in 1972 (32) coupes and (16) convertibles for a total (48)
What is the VIN from your 1972 Corvette?

can anyone tell me why the center console says 360ft lbs of torque?...
and does this spec paint car have any more value to it than other 72's?

360 is correct. My 72 base engine says the same....
the trim tag is correct.... 360 lbs torq... they probably didn't list the HP for this year bc with the new rating system it was only about 200 hp where in 71 with the same engine it was rated at 270 HP. SPEC and PRIMER paint codes have been documented numerous times, not abundant but they are out there. I doubt it would add much value without documentation from the factory and dealer and it being restored to the original paint color that it was painted initially. It's cool and different but I think it doesn't matter a lot if the car is not documented and say your average red corvette... just another cool detail about these awesome old vettes...

Hello Kyle,
The car has trim 421 dark saddle deluxe leather trim cost new $158.
1972 Corvette coupe had built 3,481 cars with this trim.
You asked about any more value for the spec paint. It is to me rare but I am not a person who would want this option. Someone is out there to be a buyer. It depends on what they will pay.
My 1972 Corvette coupe is Bryar Blue with black leather. It was built with the LT-1 engine and air conditioning.
