Default Electrical Gremlins Solved

Here is my post from a while back about electrical gremlins:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...183&highlight=

I am a horrid electrician, but with the help of other members replies to my earlier post and the help of a couple grease monkey buddies of mine I solved the major problem, the windows. I shamefully admit that I paid a mechanic to fix the tail light ground problem :o.

To fix the windows we first tested the window motors by running a wire from the battery directly to the motors. Then we checked to make sure we were getting power from the switch plugs to the motor and from the battery to the switches. Everything checked out well. We then checked the switch itself to see if it was working using a voltmeter; it was. So we figured that the problem must be between the switches and the plugs that connect to them. We cleaned the contacts, and put a little saliva on them and voila, the windows work. So all that fussing for such a simple little problem. At least I moved from a 0 to maybe a 2 on the electrical capabilities scale; good learning experience. Thanks for the help all!

I hate electrical problems. I still have a few giving me problems on my car but I am working on them one at a time trying to solve them all.

One of them was fixed by me completely re-wiring the rear light harness...built it all myself using new wires and sockets. I even added a ground point for good measure.

Glad to hear things are looking up and that you learned a few things.

Thanks.

Dang, built the harness yourself; I wish you were hanging around my garage.

You pay travel and lodging...maybe a few beers, and I'll come help you with whatever you need help with.

Matt...You're just trying to get a free trip to Hawaii. I'll bet your offer would be different if Damlie lived in the desert.

Maybe that depends on what desert. I'll always offer to help someone for the price of travel, lodging, and liquid refreshment.

Might I suggest a "Car Wash" in HI, I mean you may as well if you are over there. . .
