I've run 1050 Dominators on small blocks with no problems at all - I've used my 357-powered 64 Vette as a driving test bed when setting up Dominators for people, and I run the car on the street with the 1050 and 1250 carbs to test them-I've never had a drivability issue with the big carbs, if the carb is set up right. Here is our small block 69 Camaro bracket car with the 1050 on it - the 1050 produces the best power and best ETs of any carb we have run on it. The car has license plates and is streetable:

What are you using for an intake on your vette? I have no idea how I could get a dominator small block single plane under a corvette hood.
