Ive been doing some research and ran across this guy..look great to me.. they are staggered 19" BMW replica wheels. iv been looking at the ccw classics as well. Any know what to look for when ordering the BMW wheels? will the stock offset? backspacing? work
That is swoodard23 car. He is on the forum. And that is no kit. He has a big post on his fab work. Seriously the best looking custom body ive ever seen on a c3. Hands down. Made me feel better about just grafting a 68-73 rear on my vette. He bolted the wheels straight up I believe. If they work they would open up a door for a cheaper mesh wheel for our cars. Im looking at these ccw wheels that are similar. Boze makes a pro touring wheel that looks pretty good as well, but a little more mula
BMW rims are close enough to the lug pattern (120 vs 120.65) that they will work on a Vette. But, as with any rim, you need to check the BS as there is a variety.
Adapters may be needed.
I had thought about installing some BMW M-Parallels on my 69, but couldn't find a deal on them (or the sizes I wanted). And the repops aren't quite the same in appearance (close but no cigar)...
Even a set of Beyern Mesh would look pretty cool on a Vette in my opinion....
will do. if i can ever figure out what it takes to make these work. Probably have to run some sort of wheel spacer since the backspacing is 6 or so I believe.
if you want maybe this weekend I will pull a wheel off my M3 and see what it will take to put it on my 77 vett. ( if I dont have to many elevator service calls)
That would be great. Im sure it will take some adapting, but you may be able to adapt one of these wheels and still come out on top instead of buying something like ccw or boze.
Thats about the average specs for a bmw wheel on tirerack. Shouldnt you be able to throw on some spacers to make the backspacing work? at around 1/3 the cost of other mesh wheels Im just wondering. The car In my original post used adapters as well. The wheel being hubcentric would have to be considered.
Just to make it clear..The car pic in my first post is not my car! Ha..Iv gotten several PMs. The car is forum member swoodard23 ..so check out some of his post!
There was some discussion on a Camaro board I used to frequent about using BMW wheels. Apparently, the GM setup is lug centered, while the BMW's are hub-centered. The bolt pattern is close enough to bolt up, but when you torque it down, you are putting a bind on your lugs that they were not designed to take. You may not have any issues, or your wheel may fly off in the middle of a corner when the stugs snap off.
Use them at your own risk. I wouldn't do it on my car.

I would not recommend spacers. However, hub-centric adapters can be used to make up for the difference in backspacing. Now, this is where the adapters become the savior. There are a lot of manufacturers of the adapters found easily and cheaply on Ebay. They can usually make you a set based on your needs...and, it would be easy for them to adapt the Vette pattern to the BMW pattern which would then mean the wheels will fit fine.
