Default any tips on replace heat core

I'm replacing the heater core on my 76, w/ ac, 350. I've got the interior apart. Any suggestions on removing the cover to get to the heater core. It looks like a complete removal of all duct work to me. Am I missing something?
Thanks

do you leave the control cables and other stuff attached to the top of the duct work? It looks like they may swing out of the way.

The last thing you want is a leak detected after you have buttoned everything up.

When I put the carpet & interior in my '76, I figured I would replace the heater core while I had the ducting out to reseal. (DO reseal it while apart!) I took the whole duct assy out and had it on the workbench in the garage. I never did manage to get the damned thing open to get the heater core out of it! I wound up reinstalling it out of frustration. It never leaked when I had it hooked up so I took the gamble.

I've never run hoses to it since putting the stroker engine in the car though so I have no idea if it is still good.
