Default Interior side firewall insulation

The existing interior firewall insulation was really ratty looking so out it came. My question is can new molded rubber back formed to fit insulation be reinstalled without taking out the heater box?

DynaMat is going in now, could I use this in the areas where the insulation came out of?

Hi 1FM,
To answer the first part of your question... the insulation was fastened to the cowl before the heater box was installed.
Regards,
Alan

The Dynamat is FAR superior to the molded stuff (1960's technology)that was in the car.

The heater box does need to come out to do a good job. If you try to cut to fit around the box , I feel you will not like that look.

The box holds the insulation to the wall around its edge.

Thanks guys for the replies. Duke94's suggestion is a definite workable one using the DynaMat.

I was thinking most likely the heater box has to be out and you definitely confirmed that.
