Last time I did brakes they came with these teflon looking half- round things, think of a soda straw cut lengthwise, then chopped to about the length of the pads.
They were supposed to go on the trailing edge of the pads to reduce chatter or something. I had never seen them before though and so I left them out, but saved them.

I can visualize what he's talking about. The pad will move forward and backward depending on the rotation of the wheel when the pads are pressed against the rotor. They move. However, the pistons can't and shouldn't have that lateral force exerted on them. In theory sticking the pads to the pistons would mean they would move side to side when the pads moved when pressed against the rotor.
I don't know that sticky stuff would cause a problem though as I doubt the bond would be strong enough.
