81 blower motor/fan question
first off i am new to this forum, long time lurker but first time poster. I have an 81 with big plans but right now i am putting in a new fan blower motor and fan. the slock one is plastic, the new one i got is aftermarket and is bigger on the OD and the motor side than the stock one. it works fine out of the car till you put it in the firewall then it seems to be too big and bind down. Has anyone else run in to this? I assume others has used aftermarket so i am not sure of the problems with it. Thanks.

I replaced the motor and fan on my 1979. I ended up using the old fan. I did find there is a washer on the shaft of the old motor. It must be put on the new motor shaft. It gives the fan something to bolt against. I do not know if this will help, do not know if the set-up in your 81 is the same as the set-up in my 1979.
