Hi, does anyone have a picture of the back of the power steering pump with the lines attached. I am having problems getting the lines back on and making sure they do not rub up against anything when I go Lock to lock with the steering. I can get it to where the return line rubs up against the oil pan when i go to full lock but i dont really want it rubbing on anything. The picture i'm looking for is the angle of the pressue line comming off of the back of the pump. Is it facing down or toward the oil pan? Thanks for any help!
Thanks for the picture. I got them on ,but i know they are not lined up as the original ones were. I had a hard time getting the hoses lined up on the control valve also. I did cross them but they still are not lined up like the old ones. They do not hit anything so i think i'm alright. I wish i took a picture before i took off the old ones. I know how they had to go back but i just could not get them lined up like the original ones with the angles that are built into the lines.
These two AIM sheets pretty well explain the orientation of the hoses on the back of the pump and their orientation on the control valve. Even though the one AIM sheet says 1973 the small block discharge hose orientation is correct for your 1976 as well.
Page 9E Sheet 7
You should have a stamped metal plate (labeled Bracket in View A) on the control valve. You should be able to rotate both assist cylinder hoses (View A) so that the tubing rests against the sides of the Bracket as shown.
Page 9E Sheet 8
View B shows the back of the small block pump. The pressure hose (labeled #1 - Hose Asm - Inlet L48/L82 & N40) should be rotated inboard at the 80 degree angle from the vertical. 80 degrees as specified on the AIM sheet would rotate the hose inboard such that it was nearly horizontal as it leaves the pump discharge fitting (View B sure doesn't appear to be horizontal). Unfortunately my 1975 is in storage so I can't confirm the hose orientation.
Hope that these AIM sheets help,
Jim

thanks Jim, My rebuilt control valve did not have the bracket on it like the original and i did not want to loosen the bolts on the new one to swap it over. I know the hoses should be in the area where they would touch the bracket ,but I could not get them lined up to fit that way? They are on now and don't rub on anything so I will leave them alone unless they leak!
