Yes it would be called a saginaw power steering pump. What seems to be the trouble? parts counter guy giving you the runaround?

Get a kit and reseal it. No big deal. Off the car, take out the outlet fitting and the bolt/stud and the pump will come out of the reservoir. Big Oring seal and a couple of Orings on the back. Easy fix. shaft seal is a little more difficult, but still doable.

If you do swap pumps, thnk about taking the outlet fitting/pressure regulator from the original and put it in the new one. I recall seeing something about Vettes having a different one than other cars. Maybe not. Might be worth doing a little research.

Tim,i take it that both styles of pumps will fit?I can get a chrome one at a good price. But first i wanted to make sure that the other type would work and bolt up the same. The studs on the back of both pumps looks to be the same. Also my pump has a bad front seal.Bill
