So I am in the process of restoring an '82 and I have hit a major roadblock. I have replaced the fuel pump, filter/strainer, the fuel delivery system, throttle bodies, cleaned and blown out the fuel lines, and pretty much everything else that I can think of to get it up and running again. When I start the car it will run just fine for 5-10 minutes and then die.
A few of my mechanic friends think this may be an electrical issue and told me to take out the fuse panel and thoroughly clean all the connectors and replace it.
Does this sound like something that I should waste my time doing?
Any other thoughts or ideas?
Here's what I think and why. A while back my 82 would do the same thing. I would replace the control module that sits inside the distributor. What would happen is the engine would be cold and as soon as it warmed up it would die. As soon as the engine cooled down it would start again. After replacing many items I replaced the control module in the distributor. This fixed it. Also be SURE that you use the grease that comes with the module and apply it between the distibutor plate and the bottom of the module. This helps to keep the module from heating up.
Good Luck, Let us know how you fix it.

Direct wire the fuel pump ,start it and see if it runs and then wait for it to stop-if it doesnt stop then you know its a fuel pump issue. Then from there we can help you through the 82 nitemare wiring relaying fuel pump issue.
