I wouldn't use anything higher than 30 weight in cold areas. I don't know if Mobil1 sells a 5W30 synthetic, but that's what I would recommend...especially if you will be parked outside at all .
I too use Mobil 1 15W-50 all year round. If you are going to use Mobil 1, make sure that you use 15W-50 only in flat tappet cam engines since it is the only Mobil 1 with 1,200 PPM of ZDDP, necessary for flat tappet cam engines. The 15W-50 Mobil 1 will flow extremely well in very cold temperature since it acts like a 15 weight oil when cold and will easily outflow an organic weight oil which is like mud at 0 degrees since it is synthetic. Try pouring a conventional 10W or 5 W oil out of the container at 0 degrees and then pour some Mobil1 15W-50 at the same temperature and see which one flows better.
are you guys talking about the 15w50 gold cap extended performance.
i use that stuff in my motorcycles. i know it performs great in there.
I do not use the extended performance Mobil 1 15W-50, the "regular" 15W-50 is what I use since I change the oil annually with about 1,000 miles on it. The EP and standard Mobil 1 15W-50 both have the same amounts of ZDDP, 1,200 PPM, no difference.

i keep cases of the EP stuff on hand to run in both of my sportbikes.
when i got my vette it had rotella synth in it so i figured i was gonna stick with that but it looks like not anymore.
