I actually looked into that. A base corvette up until the late 70s was about 70% of average yearly houshold income. Today its closer to 90%.

I think the new ZR1 is going to be 100-120K.

A base corvette today should cost 32K.

The highest relative costing corvette was the 1989 corvette at 51K in 2006 dollars.

Anyway, I think we have established that it was not a piece of junk with a radical cam. And even todays super engines would not leave it in the dust by a far cry. I cant wait to fire up the 12.5 compression stock beast.
