When you asked me about my early 80s crane cam I believe my exact
wording to you was THERE ARE MORE MODERN CAM"S out there.
One reason I would not run the cam anymore besides there are better power makers. they have the PRO 55 treatment on cams there is just no reason not to have one, flat tappit cams are not that expensive.
When you asked the price I did not give you an answer
the cam has been in the bottom of a closet since the 80's thats most likely its final resting place if I don't feel comfortable using it why should I dump it off on someone else fore a few small bucks.
There are better grades of steel in wire but there not $52.00.

I agree.
You know, when you look at my cam, its got ALOT of intake lift for a solid cam. Even before you added the 1.6 ratio rockers. Not too many cams with 248 duration have .35 of lobe lift.

Besides higher lift, aggresive lobes, decent duration, all things that make the springs life harder, believe the 1.6 is another rate adder.
I don't know what your up to on E-bay but if you want some
long term durabilty in your springs consider the tool steel wire
springs.
Or what is the deal on the springs cam motion recomended
Valve springs are the last place to take any risk with.

Took a look at the pacoloy behive lunati they are Ovate ( oval shape wire ). looks like for $159.00 there was a spring you could use. I did not look very hard will let you look.
using the behive would remove a good amount of gram weight from the retainer.

From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
I build my own motors but I always let my buddy set up my heads with regards to the springs. I even pick the valves and springs but I let him set them up, he has the proper mics and tools and shim etc. and knows what he is doing.
It is critical to have the proper valve springs and setup correctly for the cam being run in a HP motor

You have a mike, shims, feeler gauges. have you done this before ?
theres a lot of stuff to check, most likely with 1.9 height and only
.560 lift your not going to run into problems but only fools just throw it all together. do every one don't get lazy assume what works on one is good for the others.
