Default windo regulator replacement

Hello all. I'm having a quite the trouble removing my window regulator. I have power windows, but my problem so far is getting the glass out. I've researched a bit on the forum but all I found didn't help me. I was planning on removing the glass and the horizontal track as an assembly but the regulator is still in the track. I've looked in my manuals as well and they were no help due to not understanding what part they were talking about and where to look. Basically, I'm looking for tips and tricks to either get the glass out or approach this in a new way. Anything would be great at this point. I've spent the better part of this day trying to wrestle it out.

Thanks again guys.

Rhe glass is bolted to the horizontal track. One nut in the front and one in the back. You have to raise and lower the glass to gain acess through the door frame. When you get the nuts off pickup on the rear of the glass out first then the front. Sort of like bringing the glass out on a 45 degree angle. Install front first, rear last

Hi,
When I took my regulator out, I jammed the window in the up position using wood wedges and duct tape. You can free the regulator by removing the track bolted to the bottom of the window and the track bolted to the door inner panel. Collapsing the regular allows you to remove it from the access hole on the inner door panel.
Good luck,
Tom

So it seems with both responses in the two different directions that I need to pull the glass without the horizontal track attached. those bolts are a PITA (nuts were easy) but if that's the only way... oh well. Thank you guys for posting.

Is there a screw that attaches to the glass or the horizontal track? In my manual it talks about a Philips head screw, but I don't see any.
Anyone have any ideas?

They might be talking about the weatherstrip screws

79 L82, i removed the glass from the horizontal track first, after removing outer weatherstrip from top of door. you will have to remove the screws and pry the clips out of their slots in the door. then pulled the glass out the top . horizontal bar can then be removed from the regualtor assy. by pushing it back then forward to get it off the rollers.
the regulator assy. can be collapsed (down) and the whole thing, including motor will comeout the hole in the lower part of the door.

Wow.
6+ hours yesterday,
all done in 30 minutes today. You guys are great. I loved the advice and that article had great pictures, Pete. All i did so far is remove the glass but the rest shouldn't be too bad. Thank you all again!

i used thin white lithium grease.(lubriplate) dont use anything heavy, some guys leave the rollers dry. saying the grease attracts dirt. i think the grease helps everything move smoothly.
good luck

Alright then. I planned on greasing it, but I didn't want to buy another type of grease if I really didn't have to. I'll go out today and buy good ol' white lithium. Thanks speedreed!
