Default Predator carb inputs.

I know that someone out there has tried one of these. I bought one with the extended fuel bowl.

There is no way that this hood will close and I am getting an L-88 scoop to mount. I hope that will provide enough space.

So, what do the experts think? What will it take to make work. How the heck do I hook up the distributer vacuum line? I like things that a different and I think this fits that discription.

Thanks,

You've got me, man. I've never seen a Predator carb in person before. How's it run?

It doesn't run yet. Just sitting on there right now. I need to get something to hook up the fuel line with. There are two inlets, right next to each other. One on the main body and one on the extended fuel bowl. I think I'll need to get a pressure regulator with a single inlet and a dual outlet to be able to hook up to the two inlets on the carb.

Any inputs on that?

There are probably lots of options along those lines. You could do it with a return-style regulator (one input and two outlets) or maybe with a "Y"-type AN fitting. Does your car have a return line? If so you culd use a combination of both--a return-style regulator with one of the outlets plumbed to a "Y" block (with a pressure gauge) going to the carb inlets and the other feeding the return line?

I don't know--that's just couple of ideas. I hope the Predator doesn't use some off-the-wall proprietary system or strange diameter and/or thread pitch you can't buy off the rack.

my friend has one on his 650 hp LS6 w/500 shot in an old camaro. pretty unconventional carbs, but kinda neat. unfortunately there is not a lot of reading on these (maybe because there are so simple...)

I had one before, but not on my vette. I hooked it to a regular mech fuel pump and used stell braided hose and AN fittings. It seems to me that it was a nice running carb for 900 some CFM. They used to sell a race/performance kit for them so you could taylor them much like you would a Vacuum seconds car.

Very funny Terry. :p: I did respond to tworottiedogs. If you've owned one, then you know. They are kind of like turbos. Lots of people have seen them, heard of them, but wouldn't want to invest in one, becuase it looks too different to perform well! I just could not be that simple and work. But ...... it does! Set up right, which doesn't take long, this carb is real responsive and loves torque. With the Predator, you don't have to be a "rocket surgeon" ... oops! mixed methphor, like you do to get the absolute most out of a Rochester, Carter or even Holley. If you had run one with your turbo, you probably could have saved the $$ on that FI stuff.

Thanks for the reply Gary. It does look very simple. Almost too simple to work. It is installed. The predator website recommended a 1 inch spacer so I tossed a Mr. Gasket spacer in there. I cut a hole in the hood and sould have a picture but someone (one of my kids) seems to have stolen my batteries out of the camera.

I need to put a scoop over the big hole I now have. I am not sure which kind and am up for suggestions. I need to buy some fittings to hook up the fuel line and will hopefully have it running tomorrow.
