If you're getting the big original-style L-88 flares like Liverpool32 and myself have, you'll need every bit of 4" backspacing or less to fill up the flares with an 11" wheel in the rear. The picture below shows my car with 11" wheels with 4.25" backspace, used with a 5/16" spacer for an operating backspace of about 3.9". If you go deeper than 4" the wheels will get swallowed by the flares and look goofy, IMO. I'd probably stay with around 4-4.5" backspace even with 12" wheels. I did have a fair amount of camber in the rear when this picture was taken, but the wheels still sit well within the flares.

If you were to get the smaller Eckler's style flares, you could probably go with deeper backspacing as the Eckler's flares are not as wide.
