Power Steering Rebuild
I bled the system with the car up on jack stands by cranking the wheel lock to lock with the motor running while stopping every so often to top off the fluid. When I turn the wheel all the way to the left, it wants to come all the back to the right by itself.
Is there some thing I haven't done, maybe centering the control valve somehow?
With the car off the jack stands and on the ground the steering wheel stays where you leave it. Haven't tried it going down the road yet.
Any suggetsions?
Thanks.
On the end of the control valve (drivers side pointing right at you) there is a small cap . Take that cap off and there is an adjusting nut.
With the rod end of the cylinder disconnected, turn the nut until the cylinder goes the other way. Now turn the nut in the opposite direction, noting how far you turn the nut, until it starts going back the other way again. Now turn the nut halfway of the noted distance back in the opposite direction.
You should be able to move the rod in a nd out easily without it pulling in either direction.
Save the Wave!! :seeya
