I have the same setup on my '80: 255/65-15 Front and 275/65-15 on the rear. Looks really mean.

I have 255/60R's on the front and 275/60R's on the back also, and they fill out the wheelwells very nicely and have a slight rakish look because the 275's are an inch taller than the 255's.
The 275/60's on the front are too wide and will hit fiberglass when hitting bumps while turning hard, even at slow speeds, driveways etc....not a good thing.
I drag raced my car this year and it really squatted off the line and I have pics and was cringing how close the rear tires looked to the wheelwells...I'm thinking of buying some drag radials over the winter and the biggest I will go is 28" tall, which are 9" wide. Any taller or wider looks like there could be clearance issues...I have a stock suspension tho. And slicks will grow in heighth at top end so I'm not going there...

I'm not doubting you at all,but was unable to find 275/65/15s anywhere.Could you post pics of your set up please.
I just purchased a set of wheels/tires that are 275/50/15s on all four corners to go on my flared 68.I have spacers now cause running 15/10 Cragars on all 4 corners, but would really...REALLY like to loose the spacers to bring the combo in,and bring the car down some, and I am tired of grabbing 2nd,and getting into the LH flare.
Will these work,or am I going to have to continue to use the spacers,or use offset trailing arms?
Thanks....

I'm thinking the "65" is a typo. I'm betting he meant "60".
I wanted Cragars at first too, but found out you need spacers to clear the calipers, so I went with the Torque Thrust 2's...they clear the calipers without spacers.

That's what I have coming too.The rims are 15/10s.I'm expecting to run the spacers, cause the tires are pretty big,but the road race tires on the front of my car are bigger than most peoples rears.
I'm wondering about fitment????

My bad! I did mean 60 not 65. Got it confused with my wife's Honda since I got both cars tires done at the same time. Here's a pic of my '80 L-82 with the 255's on the front and 275's on the back.

Default Tire Size

My suspension is stock on my 69. I have 10' Torque Thrusts with N50s.
I am using spacers, but not so the tires will clear the Trailing arm. I needed them so the wheels will clear the brake calipers. I THINK the rear spacers are 1/8th in.
Some may think it looks like a bad acid trip from the 60's, but I like it.
Also, I think what may cause some tire interference is the back spacing of the wheel, not just tire size.
The back spacing on my back wheels is 3.75 in.

Rick

I don't think you'll have a problem. 275/50's are wider but fairly short. Are the wheels 4" backspace or there about? I test fitted a pair of 295/50-15 BFG's on 10" wheels on the front of mine and only just barely had a clearance issue.

I had 275/60's and did not like them, too high IMO.

Now I have 295/50's which are almost same height as 255/60's but a LOT wider.

Some people dont like the look of them past the fenders and I am being encouraged to go back to stock 255/60. Which I am seriously thinking of doing.

Below are my 295/50's. No spacers or mods except to relocate the parking brake brackets.

Opinions welcome... stick with these or back to stock.

im also running on the rear 295/50/15 and 255/60/15 on the front. i like the way the tyre hangs out the guard. i am running a spacer to clear the caliper using eagle alloys but i dont see a drama with that. i just bought 4 new BF GOODRICH tyres but unfortunatly had to settle on 275rears because i got them at half price and 295,s are very difficult to get here now. i dont think i will be 100 % happy after having 295,s.

Cool!I think the backspacing is 3.75.I know they are wider, and the hiegth is 26.1.I am going/looking to fill the flares, but lower the car down alittle, and tuck the tires up in the flares alittle bit.Plus I am running Firestone road racing tires from the early 70s,then switched to Goodyear Eagle slicks on the rear, and have been running them on the street for several months. That's interesting on real hot days,or brisk mornings.
She's put up now tho' w/salt on the roads, and my new tire/wheels are suppose to land Monday.

Fellas....thanks for posting the pics.VERY nice cars, and they all look good!

Hi

275 in the back of my 68.

This gives just enough space to clear the parking brake bracket and also the leaf spring.
And it just clears the fender .
295 would not fit without using different back spacing and working on the spring and parking brake, possibly even with offset arms.

Here the 275 from the back

Here from the top. As I mentioned, just clears the fender when moving all the way up against the trailing arm rubber pumper.

Here the spring gap. It is OK because it lives in the wheel area, but if you install the longer bolts for lowering the car, it will live in the tire sidewall area and get near to it.

Without any modifications, 275 is about all that goes.

Rgds. Günther

BFs.I bought a wheel/tire(15x10s Torque Thrust 2s,and BFs...275/50/15s) combo from a forum member that he was running on his flared C3,then changed, and they have been sitting for some time. They look like they are in very nice shape.
When I got the car...it had Firestone Super Sports from the 70s,and the backs were 6/12.5/15,and pretty tall.It also, had old Gabrial adjustable shocks, but the LH rear collapsed, and flexed the spring...I believe, and they had the trailing arms spaced all the way in,and the alignment was terrible.I fixed all that, but when I am in it hard....and grab 2nd,the LH rear squates, and has worn on the flare,so now there is a piece missing there.I am wanting to lower the car,and get the tires under the lip alittle of the L88 flares.
