Transmission filter bolt
I have a 1974 Vette I am starting to restore, I decided to pull the tranny pan off which is a turbo 400 and noticed it looked like the filter had been sloshing around in there for some time and even alongated the retainer bolt hole. Question is there another part to the retainer bolt that could be missing the bolt has a shoulder on it and dosen't even thghten up on the new filter, Any pics would be nice thanks

Thye filter bolt has a shoulder on it and the filter itself has an elongated hole so it "floats" in the pan. If the bolt won't tighten up snug the threads in the valve body are stripped or possibly the bolt threads are. It's a standard 5/16 coarse thread. Put a helicoil in the VB.. No problem.
