C5 seats are too tall if you want to accomodate the power motors. I have a set with 6 way power and I'm going to cut and lower my floorboards to get them at the right height. But if you were okay with manual & modified them to mount on C3 tracks, they wouldn't sit any higher than C4 seats (about 1" - 1-1/2" higher than C3 seats). Width and depth aren't a problem. I checked this out quite a bit before I bought the pair I did. $550 for a pair with only 9000 miles on them and 6 way power. I'm not going to install mine until I pull the body and I can modify the floorboards easily from both sides so I can get it right . . . I don't want anyone to think I'm Bubba! :D
so roadster...what about non-power C5 seats?
I saw some at a show for sale...they are so sweet...but didnt know...
they sat next to C4 seats and looked the same for height...
I'm sure the manual version has the same tracks as the pair I picked up and from what I can tell, the C5 tracks won't work unless they are heavily modified. I think it would be easier to remove the C5 tracks and mount the seats on C3 tracks. I looked into doing that myself since it's going to be a long time until I'm ready, but the seats are mounted to the C5 tracks with smooth head fasteners and I'd have to cut those off and haven't decided if it's worth that yet. I can e:mail detail pics to you if you'd like, just have to borrow a neighbors digital camera. :D
I found mine on ebay and we did a deal on the side and he shipped them COD. After I got'em he told me the real story. His friend had ordered a C5 with black seats and it came with the charcoal. After arguing with the dealer for over a year they finally sent him new seats and told him they didn't want the others back so he sold them to his friend who listed them on ebay. After I kept asking questions, we agreed on a price no matter what the bidding went to. I quit bidding and he kept the agreement. He had been burned by high bidders not coming through before and didn't want to jack with it if he didn't have to.
zwede how hard was the swap to the C4 seats. I have been considering this for a while but was not sure how hard it was.
I'd say it was pretty easy. Access to a MIG welder makes it much easier, but I'm sure it can be done without one. Basically I took the top part of the C4 track and welded it to the C3 track.
