Default Removing Carb fuel bowl

This might be a dumb question, but here goes...

How do I drain the fuel from a carburetor fuel bowl prior to loosening the bolts and removing it?

Any good and efficient ways to do this without spilling gas?

What kind of carb? That would be a nice place to start, they do differ quite a bit!

It has 4 bowl screws on the front bowl? If it does, pull one of the lower ones, with a rag under it. It is going to have a quart of gas come out, or at least you'll think that while it's running all over the place. Just put a few rags, towels, paper towels, whatever you use and let'er rip.

You can also block the carb feed line off, and run the car until it dies. Makes less gas in the bowl. I have an electric pump, mine is easy.

Take an aluminum beverage can and cut it down to about 1/3 of it's original size (i do this with a pocket knife). You can bend it into whatever shape you want or need to fit under the fuel bowl screw you're taking out. You can also bend it into a minature pitcher and use it to fill the fuel bowl through the vent after your done changing your jets or power valve or whatever it is you channged.

Great idea for the tunnel ram, it won't work on my single 4 bbl on my dual plane intake. The carb sits too low, but a can/funnel to a container might work.

That's the method I used...until they started putting holes in the center of the caps!I now use a cut down can or plastic bottle,Joe's Racing Products makes a really slick aluminum can for this job,it catches the fuel and has a spout to refill the bowl thru the
vent, but used cans and bottles are usually free...
