Default Accelerator pedal (69E) need pics or advice

Hi,

I have some trouble installing my accelerator cable to the pedal (69E style with separate rod, BB with Q-jet, new original GM accelerator cable). The cable seems to short, connecting the cable to the pedal lifts the bottom of the pedal up from the carpet (about 2,5 inch).

So I would need some pics from the cable to carb bracket mounting and pics of the pedal (shape and mounting of the rod, I suspect Bubba bent the rod).
Any other advice is also welcome!

Thanks!
Dirk

I don't know if there is a different bend in the actual pedal. On my roadster....the pedal had to open 6x 2 Bbls.,and the pedal bent from the force, and my carbs weren't opening all the way,so I bent pedal top the other way to give me more movement, then welded metal strip to make sure that it didn't give.
Moral of the story......someone might of bent it outward, cause it bent inward from previous use.Mine was also,up off the floor, but I also, put spacers under the pedal mount to give me more travel.

I have the same set up and I think it is a little bit weird.
If you adjust the linkage so that the carb will fully open, you have to be carefull that there isn't much travel left in the pedal or the sheet metal extension on the pedal rod will bend. There is no spring action to take up any additional travel. The only adjustment I can see is the attachment to the throttle shaft, and a little adjustment in the clamp that attaches the cable housing. But, like I said, it is pretty much a solid linkage, and if you have room under the pedal at wot and you put alot of pressure on the pedal, something will bend.

The 69 pedal assembly was notorious for bending. The design was later changed for that reason. You will need to adjust the pedal for correct operation and re-enforce it. Or replace with the new style.
