Timing on '82
I believe that to set the timing correctly on the GMs with the HEI, you are to disconnect a wire in or from the distributor to somewhere. A tan/black or tan/white wire? I don't see anything like that on my distributor. Anyone have any idea of what I should be looking for here?

I have a tan wire that plugs into the distributor cap, and it goes to the tach. Is that the one? That's the only one I see that looks brown or tan. It this os not the correct one ( and I don't think it is) where does the right one come from in the distributor, and does it unplug at the dist., or inline somewhere?

no the tach wire is not the right one.on the drivers side of your car look down next to the distributer there is wire harness coming out of the fire wall.that is where the wire is ,it has a black connector in the midile of the wire then goes back in to harness
