Default Chassis dyno questions

I am thinking of putting my car on a chassis dyno to set up a base line and find out where I am. I hope it will save time on useless mods. However, a friend tells me that chassis dynos are very hard on the entire drive train. I find this hard to believe. What do you guys think.

I don't think your buddy knows what he's talking about! I've dynoed my car and hang with several guys who have done it multiple times each year as they add mods. If this was the case, the pros would use some other way to verify their mods which they don't! :nonod:

Chassis dynos are not hard on parts. You're accelerating a 1600lbs drum on the dyno in high gear. If you floor it on the freeway in high gear you accelerate the whole car (~3500 lbs).

Only thing is to make sure the shop has a good fan blowing onto the radiator so the engine doesn't overheat.
