Hi
we are getting the seats put in out 1974 coup and the bolt holes for the tracks seem to be off!!! the tracks are correct for a 74...
does anyone know if the bolts goes in the inner or out hole on the track closest to the console?
Thanks
Thanks
but that does not seem to be the case with me...
is the pic you show a right or a left?
Thanks for the comments
Edit Corrected: "The bottom of paul 74's seat has the seatbelt interlock wiring so it is the driver's side." Correct: Seats are identical, no left or right.
I believe the interlock was exclusive to the 1974.
The seats should swap driver's to passenger's side with no problem.
You might want to do a search on defeating the 1974 interlock.
Actually the seats are identical; there is no left or right. Note the chrome adjuster is always on the one side. And the interlock sensor is on both. If you had a very heavy package on the passenger seat in 1974 the car would not start unless you buckled it up!
Having said that, mine do have a left and a right now because I chose to install the optional pass-through shoulder belts.
Ok
Thanks the seats I have are correct according to Paul 74 pic - ***** on the inside drivers and outside passenger..problem is the track for the passenger side inside holes do not line up ...all the parts are correct and there is only one set of holes ...that is why this is perplexing!
Paul
Thanks
actually just got them pushed in - thanks
hey since you are a 74 also ...the rear grills above the luggage rack..are they held in place by regular screws or do they use those gromets with the nut in them
Thanks
I believe the seat switch attached to springs in the 3rd photo goes on the passenger's side. The driver is assumed; the switch is used on passenger side tells the car whether or not the car is carrying a passenger then decides if the seat belt is unloaded.
Also in the same photo, you'll notice a tear in seat cover. That's likely from scraping over the seat belt assembly. Make sure threre's no carpet between the SB assy and the floorboard or the assy will sit too high ruin your seat covers when you adjust the seat(s).
Also, the seats are not interchangeable, left and right. Don't forget about the shoulder belt which goes through the back of the seat.

My car is in storage but if I remember correctly those are Phillips head screws used with speed nuts.

FWIW
Yes and no. In the absence of the shoulder hardware the seat frames are identical. Only when the pass-through belts are added do you create a left and right. Of 5,474 convertibles produced in 1974 only 618 were ordered with the shoulder belts.
Correct Paul 74. The seat frames and hardware are the same, L to R. Once the seats are assembled and upholstered, then obviously they are no longer interchangable.
