Default What are those things (pics)?

Hi,

I took some photos of things which I'm not sure about. I hope you can answer those.

1) Probably a vacuum hose, perhaps broken but I couldn't find the other end. I just found the hose open like that. All my vacuum systems are operating except the climate system doesn't change the ducts where the air comes out from. I can't set it to DEFROST for example. Could this hose be the key?

It comes out of the engine compartment wall, together with some other vacuum hoses:

2) Simple question - what's this?

3) My horn is not working and yesterday I did some troubleshooting. I found this black wire to be broken. It wasn't exactly like that, there was an extension re-wired from the plug side, most certainly because of the custom-installed siren system. The siren is not working though, so the wire was also just hanging. I don't need the siren, but I need to get the horn working. When I ground the plug side of the black wire, the horn sounds. However, when I connect the two black wires together and press the horn on the wheel, nothing happens. I assume that I need to connect the black wires but where else could be the problem? The relay?

Thanks a lot!

1) Yes, that appears to be the vacuum hose that goes to the Heater/AC controls. It should T-off from a larger hose as in the pic. The larger hose is the one that goes to the fitting in the intake manifold behind the carb....

2) Is the Early Fuel Evaporation (EFE) valve. Its purpose is to warm up the cold engine quicker. Does that by closing a valve on the pass side exhaust pipe and forcing hot air through the intake manifold under the carb.

3) Well, if it were my Vette I'd rip the entire aftermarket alarm out and go from there

Thanks. The vacuum hose story is really interesting. I will see if there is anything hanging around in there which could use an additional hose.

Is the EFE thing standard on these cars?
